Synthetic Pictures Signs Award-Winning Director Erik Anderson
Synthetic Pictures has signed director Erik Anderson, winner of the 2013 SHOOT New Directors Showcase. Specializing in “docu-style,” lifestyle, and automotive content, Anderson’s clients include Microsoft, Riddell, Maria Stopes Int’l, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
While at Art Center College of Design, Anderson directed speculative work for Chevrolet and the documentary, “Hands in the Mist,” quickly earning recognition from YDA and AICP. His new Riddell spot was recently Shortlisted for the CLIO Sports Awards.
At first a writer and photographer, it is storytelling that drives Anderson’s passion, which is why he gravitates toward real people projects. “I want to capture the essence of and heart of people, really engage them,” says Anderson. On his decision to join the Synthetic team, Anderson was drawn to the “family atmosphere where creativity is encouraged and there’s a real collaborative effort. I trust Synthetic Founder Justin Corsbie and Executive Producer Allison Smith to be thoughtful and very real about steering my career.”
Anderson’s first projects with Synthetic include co-directing with Corsbie on a real people campaign for Williamsburg, VA Tourism through Luckie & Co., and collaborating with Team Detroit on a potential docu-style campaign for Ford.
“We love his energy, enthusiasm and can-do attitude,” says Smith. “Erik is a one-of-a-kind personality – a creative thinker who goes after everything to make it better. You know he’s going to work through every option until he finds the best solution.”
